The God of Destruction of Universe 7 is one of the most powerful characters in the entire show, and the entire reason as to why Dragon Ball Super even exists. It was through Beerus that the Saiyans even found out about Super Saiyan God — a transformation that opened the floodgates to a whole new level of power that could be attained by this race in Dragon Ball Super.
Dragon Ball Super introduced the concept of multiple Universes. In fact, certain Universes were also linked to each other, leading to these worlds being twins of each other. Piccolo may have started out in DBZ as a antagonist but he quickly became an ally, friend and even trainer to Gohan and the rest of the gang.
Piccolo has been stated to be stronger than Super Saiyan Goku and was able to take on Super Saiyan 2 Gohan at one point, but his power does not grow as fast as the Saiyans, and thus, despite constantly training, which brings him in as our sixteenth character. As a God of Destruction, Beerus possesses immense strength and power as he can easily destroy a planet and so far it seems he can easily take down every Dragon Ball Z characters except for Whis, his trainer. Eventually Beerus found Goku and tested him in a fight.
At the time, Goku tried to spar with Beerus in Super Saiyan Level 3, but still he failed drastically. Though Goku was able to last longer in this fight, Goku was still nowhere to defeat Beerus. Nonetheless, Beerus felt satisfy with his battle with Goku and decided to spare Earth from destruction. Taking that into account, the strongest foe Beerus has fought is undoubtedly Whis. Whis seems to possess extremely fast speed, and he even has the power to reverse time.
