You can fly search and rescue missions or work as a police helicopter pilot or border patrol pilot. You could also fly helicopters for the fire department, using longline and external load training to help put out fires.
For some of these jobs, you may be required to go through police training as well as flight school. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 flight hours of instruction, of which at least 20 hours must be with an instructor and 10 hours must be solo.
